Estimation of the spatial climate comfort distribution using tourism climate index (TCI) and inverse distance weighting (IDW) (case study: Fars Province, Iran)

Abstract This article was conducted to perform a temporal and spatial analysis in order identify suitable climatic regions for tourism. We investigated tourism climate conditions Fars province from 2006 2016 using index (TCI). Also, modified inverse distance weighting (IDW) interpolation is applied generate the optimal pattern of TCI distribution. The relationship between accuracy critical IDW parameter, called power value (β), evaluated optimization. results revealed that during four months May, April, October, November, 70–83% cities show excellent ideal comfort. In July, December, January, March, about 45–54% provide good very activities. distribution also shows northern part generally have most desirable hot season, while southern are more cold season. optimization steps demonstrated (β) affects accuracy. As our study suggests, values 1 2 can lead Overall, we found as reliable tools assessing bioclimatic comfort conditions, considering β-value an influential factor should be achieve results.
